Our church staff is devoted to the parish and works diligently to provide the best in pastoral oversight and traditional liturgical programming.
Each member of our staff has extensive pastoral experience and works to provide each member and visitor a positive and uplifting worship experience.
Fr. Roger Durand, Pastor
Fr. Roger is the founding pastor of this Catholic parish. He was ordained a Catholic deacon and priest and was educated at Our Lady of Providence Preparatory Seminary (Diocesan Preparatory Seminary, Providence, Rhode Island), and then at Saint John’s Seminary (Brighton, Massachusetts) achieving an AB degree in philosophy. Finally, he completed his ministerial education at Providence College, under the Dominican Fathers, and achieved a Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry (with honors).
In addition to his duties at church, Father is retired from secular employment, which provided him with a broader view to the realities of everyday living and a deep compassion for the struggles of everyday people who desire to do what is right, but must combine this with the realities of living in Rhode Island.
Fr. Durand derives no income from his parish work, which is accomplished for the greater glory of God. Father lives out in his life the message of the Apostle Paul when he said: “If any will not work, neither let him eat.”
Noel Sanchez, Deacon
Noel was born in Phoenix, AZ and raised in El Salvador, Central America. He returned to the U.S. to study at Columbia International University, in Columbia, South Carolina, where he completed a B.S. degree in biblical studies with a minor in pastoral ministry.
Noel was ordained a Deacon in the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC), an international Catholic denomination. Deacon Noel served at St. Michael’s Church, Middletown, RI for eight years before coming to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in September of 2013.
Deacon Noel is involved in secular employment and is the owner of Casa Buena Builders, Inc. He has been married for over thirty years to his wife, Elizabeth, is the father of six grown children, and grandfather to six grandchildren.
Elizabeth Sanchez, Religious Education Director
Elizabeth has been exposed to the teaching of the bible since infancy and even in her adult life continues to make being a student of the bible a special part of her daily life. Elizabeth’s love of children and her heart towards them is the reason why she has taught Sunday school at every church in which she has been a member. Much of her insight in searching out the truth of scripture and its relevance in our lives has come from working with children, who she believes has authored those most defining moments in her understanding of who God is and how He wants to relate to us.
