PARISH COMMUNITY and OUTREACH

There are many facets to the Saint Patrick Catholic Church community.

The church membership is very diverse, both in age and ethnicity.  Our parish family includes singles, married couples, and families with children. The people you meet in our parish family are just like the people you experience in the world around you. Children of all ages are most welcome to join us for Mass with their parents, sitting with the entire congregation, not in an “isolation chamber”.

Parish camaraderie is important to our community.  In addition to our weekly coffee hour after Sunday morning Masses, we come together as family for several social functions throughout the year.  These activities include our traditional St. Patrick’s Day Feast, Annual Summer Picnic, “Meatballs Galore” competition (Italian Dinner), Community Fall Festival, and Christmas Party (with a visit from Santa).

There is a profound realization that our lives must go beyond the simplicity of our parish to the complexities of the greater community in need; therefore we have a strong involvement in ministry and outreach here at St. Patrick.  Presently, this parish gives 10% of offerings to aid in social outreach.  In addition, weekly, we collect food items and clothing, in the bins located at the entrance to the Sanctuary, for distribution to those in need within our greater community, at St. Vincent De Paul Emergency Food Center in Cranston, and St. Robert’s Food Pantry in Johnston.  Prior to the beginning of each school year, our parishioners contribute items to our “Tools for Schools” campaign, which we donate to students in our local elementary schools who are in need of school supplies (including backpacks).  Every November, we put together and donate sixty to eighty Thanksgiving Baskets (including the turkey) to the Cranston Community Action Program.  During the Christmas season, we participate in a Giving Tree for the benefit of those families who are less fortunate.

If you desire an accepting, loving community in which all are welcome and are concerned with giving beyond ourselves, look no further than Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
