FAQ

National Catholic Directory

A common question put to us regularly is “where do I worship” when away from St. Patrick’s parish, or are there other National Catholic parishes around?  There are hundreds.
This page hopes to address these questions with many options for you across the country, and in Canada.
Within the United States, there are presently two major denominations which provide you with authentic worship and sacraments, while not being Roman Catholic.  They are the Polish National Catholic Church and The Charismatic Episcopal Church.  In the case of the Polish National Catholic Church, they were founded over a hundred years ago and Rome has judged their sacraments to be both authentic and valid for all believers.  The Charismatic Episcopal Church was founded with a link to the Brazilian National Catholic Church (the same link our own parish church enjoys).  It can be demonstrated that Rome has favorably determined that their orders are also valid and in fact, welcomed back a Brazilian National bishop who sought reconciliation with Rome, along with his wife and children without re-ordination or other qualifying procedure.  Link to Roman Catholic hierarchy founder of the Brazilian National Catholic Church: Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa: http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bduco.html.  Link to the Roman Catholic hierarchy record for the bishop welcomed back with his family into the Roman Catholic Church: Bishop Salomao Barbosa Ferraz: http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bferraz.html.
Please, do keep one thing in mind when you do visit one of these parishes.  The manner of worship may be slightly different from what you may be used to, but in all cases, should be easily recognizable to you.
